Mode of address


Modes of address can be defined as the ways in which  relations between addresser and addressee are constructed in a text. 

Mode of address can be the way media 'shouts' at the 
audience. 

There are four main types of mode:
1st person- talking about yourself e.g. using 'I' and 'Me'.
3rd person can be used as a narrative.
Formal- classical music magazine or in a letter 'Yours faithfully'
Informal- smash it magazines use more slang, jokes and colloquial language/Expletive language.
